Doing your duty

"The time will come when the destiny of the nation will hang upon a single thread. At that critical juncture, this people will step forth and save it from the threatened destruction. It will be so." - Joseph Smith

As many of you know, there is A LOT of opposition going on with getting proposition 8 passed. Everyday we hear about more people and businesses putting thousands of dollars in donations for the other side. The CA secretary of state even changed the language on the ballot from saying "[Proposition 8] amends the California Constitution to provide that only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California." to saying that the initiative "Changes California Constitution to eliminate right of same-sex couples to marry." The actual proposition remains the same (That only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California), but because of all the opposition to the proposition to keep marriage traditional between a man and a woman, there is already predictions that there will be a defeat unless the people make a significant stand.

With that said, we can not give up. My hat goes off to those who have been asked from the church to donate a certain amount of money and who have given it without complaint, not knowing whether it will do any good with the final outcome. Thank you for all of you who have stood together to try to protect the traditional merits of the home and family. James and I are both 'walking' on Saturday to give out information about prop 8 around the community with the local churches, so if anyone cares to join us we are meeting at the town pool/park at 8:30 a.m. Please bring friends.

Here are some more reasons that are not solely religious, for keeping marriage as a union between a man and a woman. I might write about those later.
